May 31, 1931 to March 12, 2022 Margaret Chislett passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels on Saturday March 12, 2022 at the age of 90. Born in New Zealand and formerly of Listowel ON, she traveled extensively with her family and even more so after she met her future husband Reginald, where they were both serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force at Bagotville, Quebec. After they were married, they lived in many locations across Canada and in Germany as Reg was transferred on an average of every 4 years. Throughout her life Margaret developed many skills and was always willing to learn more. She enjoyed quilting, baking, cooking, doing word search and at various points in her life she worked a number of positions including as a bookkeeper, a parole office administrator and was the coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Hastings County. Beloved wife of the late Reginald Chislett who predeceased her in 2016. Loving mother of Doug Chislett (Debra Woodske), Dodi (Grant) Morgan, Bill (Leslie) Chislett. Special grandma of James, Jessica (Mike) and great-grandma of Jimmy and Annabelle. She will be fondly remembered by all her surviving family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Renton and Dorothy (Land) Hawkins, her brother William and his wife Josephine Hawkins, and her sister Dodie and her husband Al Brown. Margaret will join them in the family crypt at the Hamilton Cemetery. August 11, 1925 to March 4, 2022 Petronella (Nellie) Tegenbosch, formerly of Route 2 Atwood, passed away peacefully at her residence in Royal Terrace Long Term Care, Palmerston on Friday March 4, 2022 at the age of 96. Nellie and her husband Case farmed for many years at Route 2 Atwood. She was a member of St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Kinkora and St. Brigid’s CWL. Nellie loved cooking, baking, gardening and especially spending time with her family. Beloved wife of Case Tegenbosch whom she married in 1957. Lorne Scott of Listowel in his 88th year. Loving husband and best friend of Elaine (nee Felkar) for 64 years. Cherished father of Bonnie Peebles of Toronto, Brenda and her husband Steve Rogers of Wiarton and Sharon and her husband Paul van Veen of Wroxeter. Much loved grandfather of Miranda, Claire (Corey), Marshall (Mark), Connor (Jenna), Andrea, Megan, Ivory, Justine and Vienna and great grandfather of Forrest, Ethan and Cameron. Dear brother of Earla Calder of Beaton, Doris Bennett of Listowel, Glenna Morrison of Toronto and Murray Scott (Margaret) of Seaforth. Missed by many nieces and nephews especially Sandy Linseman and her husband Leon as well as their family. Predeceased by his parents Frona (nee Bender) and Clifford Scott, grandson Matthew and brothers-in-laws Hilton Calder and Allan Morrison. Lorne was born and raised on a farm in Wallace Township. He attended S.S. # 1 Wallace and S.S. 2 Elma and at the early age of 12, started L.D.S.S. He married Elaine in 1957 and together they farmed and raised 3 daughters near Britton in Elma Township. Lorne was a man of many talents. He worked in many different careers. He loved his “man toys,” could fix a wide variety of things, and enjoyed making small furniture and gifts for the children and grandchildren. If you needed a picture hung, wallpaper put up, or a fence mended - he was your man! Lorne was outgoing and had the gift of the gab. He valued his farm and town neighbours greatly and could often be found helping them out. He enjoyed his Britton friends to the fullest with so many good times and memories made. Lorne loved music and dancing. He especially liked music that involved the fiddle. He spent many years attending fiddle competitions in Shelburne, tearing up the dance floor at the NCO dances, and camping with the Gypsy Campers. Lorne was a steady influence on his family members as he handled all upsets, small and large with a calm demeanor. Even as his memory was failing, he was quick-witted and always ready with a funny come-back. The grandchildren will miss all his teasing, hand-holding and lap chats. Family and friends are invited to share memories at Knox Presbyterian Church, 220 Livingstone Avenue North, Listowel on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Listowel. August 21, 1937 to February 14, 2022 John Gordon, formerly of Listowel, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hillside Manor Long Term Care, RR5 Stratford, on Monday February 14, 2022 at the age of 84. John was a former truck driver for Johnson Milk Transport and LTL Trucking and a former member of the Orange Lodge, Listowel. Beloved husband of Ruby (Hanna) Gordon whom he married in 1958. Loving father of Billy, Mark, Bruce and Katherine. Fondly remembered by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his sister Doreen. March 8, 1929 to February 8, 2022 Rose Smith, formerly of Route 2 Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at her residence in Listowel, on Tuesday February 8, 2022 at the age of 92. Rose was born in England and worked as a seamstress and also at the railway office where she met David. After coming to Canada, David and Rose made a life farming. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, reading and spending time with her family. Beloved wife of the late David Smith who predeceased her in 1990. Loving mother of Mary Ellen (Harry) Jacklin, Jim (Sandra), Sally (Scott) Andrews, Sandra (Don) Harrison. Wednesday December 29, 2021 of Listowel, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday December 29, 2021 at the age of 96. Harvey farmed near Cranbrook for 20 years, first as a dairy farmer and later raising beef cattle. He was a fix it type person, always trying to make something work before buying a new one. Harvey enjoyed motor home camping, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. He cherished all the memories made with family at the cottage in Point Clarke which they owned for over 50 years. Harvey was a very sociable person with a large circle of friends always known as “The Crew”. Beloved husband of Marion (Pake) Smith with whom he celebrated 72 years of marriage. Loving father of Ron (Susan), Brenda (Ken) Bast, Donna (Steve) Wells, and Lorrie (Keith) Traves. Special grandpa of Sherry (Sean), Ryan (Tracy), Angie (Cam), Mike (Colene), Matt (Morgan), Chancey, Adam (Lisa), Aleisha (Michael) and great-grandpa of Bryn, Talia, Hannah, Holden, Haelyn, Winston, Edwin, Meyer, Paige, Addison, Olivia, Ava, Maxwell, Jack and Molly.
