    April 10, 1942- May 4, 2026 Passed away peacefully at Caressent Care in Listowel on May 4, 2026 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Bertus Boerkamp (1991) whom she married in 1966. Loving mother of Wilfried (Nancy) Boerkamp of Chesley, Ronnie (Leslie) Boerkamp of Atwood and Brigitte (Joy) Boerkamp of Atwood. Cherished grandmother of Tonya, Crystal, Stacey, Darien, Austin, Madyson, Landon, Lucas, Aaron, Heather and great grandchildren. Survived by siblings Henk, Annie (Bennie), Trees (Rob) and Marja (Herman), sisters in law Jo (the late Bennie)and Riet (the late Ko), brothers in law Jos (Thea) and Tonnie (the late Lien). Predeceased Wim, Betsie (Henk), Johan (Maria) and her parents Hendrik and Grada (Wissink) Beulink. Ria was the wheel of her family with her family members being the spokes. She provided a wonderful home for her husband Bertus and her children. She led by example: work hard, face what you are dealt and always persevere. Her home was a welcoming place where coffee was always “On”. She helped in the barn, when she could, and made sure that everything was spotless. She had a little spoon that was always in the corner of her mouth that she would put in the corner of the cleaning cloth so she could really get into the corners. She enjoyed her trips back to Holland after she semi-retired. Her siblings and friends over there still dear to her. The last 15 years were spent at Caressent Care in Listowel after suffering a terrible stroke. She regained a lot of her mobility but was in need of full time care. The staff at Caressent Care were an integral part in Ria living until the beautiful age of 84. Lots of bingo, blackjack were part of her life, she sure enjoyed those games. Ria was a blessing; her family was blessed. As per her wishes, a private family funeral service will be held. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Listowel.     October 16, 1953- April 21, 2026 Sandra Lynne Smith of Listowel Passed away on April 21, 2026 at Victoria Hospital London Ontario in her 73rd year. Sandra was born on October 16, 1953, in Listowel, Ontario. She spent many dedicated years working as a grocery clerk at Zehrs, where she was known for her friendly nature and familiar presence to so many in the community. Sandra was a woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, time spent with others, a good cup of coffee, and connection through her church and community. She was a member of Calvary United Church and enjoyed having coffee with her friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jim Smith, whom she married on September 4, 1971. Cherished mother of April (Tony) Martin and Amanda (Stephen) Caldwell. Proud grandmother of five grandchildren and great-grandmother of two. Sandra is survived by her sister Betty Marks (Ken) and her brother Jim Vance (Sharon). She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Vance and Hazel Kerr, as well as her brothers Bob Vance and Bill Vance. A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will be held at Parkview Gardens, Listowel on Sunday May 3, 2026 from 1PM- 4PM Interment will take place at Elma Centre Cemetery.     July 18, 1933- October 23, 2025 Maxine Scholl passed away peacefully with family by her side at Listowel Memorial Hospital on October 23, 2025 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Jack Scholl (1992). Loving mother of Mary Helen (Ken) Dale of Stratford, Kevin “Cubby” Scholl of Atwood, Tanya (Lloyd) Kuepfer of Britton and the late Ron Scholl. Cherished grandmother of Joe (Karen) Scholl, Jeff (Shannon) Scholl, Kristy (Jamie) Taylor, Josh Dale (Sonja), Shane (Mai) Dale, Steven (Chelsea) Scholl, Lisa (Darryl) Dewar, Jackson Kuepfer, Lucas Kuepfer and the late Johnathan Scholl. Great grandmother of 10 with one on the way. Survived by her brother in law Fred Scholl and sister in law Doris Gordon. Predeceased by her siblings, Marion, Helen, Marg, Frank, Joe, Bud and Don. Maxine was a dedicated member of the Atwood Presbyterian Church. The family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Listowel Memorial Hospital Palliative care unit for their dedication and wonderful care over the last few days.     June 6, 1941- January 23, 2026 Iola Subject passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on January 23, 2026, at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late John Subject, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Together, Iola and John built a life grounded in family, faith, and community. Loving mother of Brenda McKinnon, Harold (Bev) Subject, Kevin (Wendy) Subject and the late David Subject in infancy. Cherished grandmother of Jesse (Nicole), Curtis, Cody (Saunie), Bobby (Carrie), Stacey (Sean), Trevor, Michael (Tonya), Mitchell and the late Marshall and Matthew and proud great-grandmother of Isla, Lane, Kinzley, Michael, Olivia, Avery, Liam, Easton, Chase and Wendel, Elijah, Xavier and Isiah. Survived by her brother Victor (the late Dorothy) Bell, and sister Leora (Larry) Graw. Predeceased by her brother Rae Bell and sister Francis Ingram. Iola was a creative and caring woman who found joy in quilting and crafting, often working alongside John painting saws and sharing her talents with others. She was a quiet but steady presence in the community, supporting John’s many years of service with the Atwood Lions Club and enjoying time spent with family, friends, and Family Paradise Campground. Fondly remembered by members of the Bell and Subject family, extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends. A private family service will be held. Graveside Service will be held at Elma Centre Cemetery Saturday May 23 at 11AM Celebration to life to follow from 12PM- 3PM at Elma Memorial Community Centre.     October 25, 1934 – April 15, 2026 Peacefully, at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Pearl Ruby Fair of Listowel passed away in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Russell Edgar Fair (2019). Cherished mother of Joyce (Mel) Fischer. Dear sister of the late Lyle George (predeceased in infancy), the late Lloyd George, the late Audrey (Ralph) Marling, and the late Evelyn (Herbert) Bishop. Survived by brothers and sisters in law Irene Smith (the late Elmer), Dorothy Fair (the late Lloyd), Neil (Eleanor) Fair, Helen Lee (the late Jim) all of Brantford and Elva (Malcolm) Hicks of Dundas. She will be miss by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Daughter of the late Lorne (James) George and the late Ruby Hilda (Robinson) George. Pearl was born in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, and spent many years in the Listowel and Atwood area. She was a dedicated worker in the food industry, including her time at Westinghouse, and also contributed seasonally to the canning industry. Pearl took great pride in her work and was known for her strong work ethic and quiet dedication. A longtime member of Atwood United Church, Pearl was deeply rooted in her community. She enjoyed simple pleasures, gardening, reading, and her beautiful embroidery work, often creating pillowcases, potholders, and dresser scarves for those she loved. She also spent time caretaking at Elma School and assisting in the school library, always happy to lend a hand where needed. Family and friends will be received at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood, for visitation on Sunday April 19th 2026 from 2-5 PM. Pearl’s life will be celebrated the next day, April 20th 2026 at the funeral home at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Elma Centre Cemetery.   • Olive Jeanette (Roger) Coghlin Walsh

    Olive Jeanette (Roger) Coghlin Walsh, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Knollcrest Lodge. Olive was born in 1933 on a farm near Fullarton, the youngest of four children of Ernest and Mabel Roger. During her youth, she was actively involved in 4-H and Junior Farmers, where she met Glynn Coghlin. They were married in 1952 and together built a loving home, raising five children near Atwood. A devoted member of her community, Olive was a lifelong participant in the United Church, Maple Leaf Women’s Institute, and the UCW. Her faith and community involvement were central to her life. Olive had a deep love for her family and took great pride in their lives, always supporting and celebrating their interests and accomplishments. She was also a passionate artist. For over 50 years, Olive enjoyed painting and was a dedicated participant in Stratford's Art in the Park until the age of 80. She shared her talent and love of art by teaching in Continuing Education programs in Listowel and Palmerston for more than 20 years, as well as spending 10 years teaching in Florida. Olive will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She loved the outdoors, animals and gardening, filling her home with beauty, kindness and flowers. Survived by her loving children Richard (Barb), Brenda (Warner), Brian(Cheryl), Paul(Andrea), her grandchildren Chad (Dorothy), Kyle (Lyndsay), Justin(Cassie), Brandon, Philip, Craig (Patricia), Chelsea (Ryan) Fewster, Jessica (Tyler) Dietner, Jamie, Candice (Clayton) Johns, Amanda (Jordan) Arseneau, Mikaela Bechard, Amy (Pat) Miller, Brody(Ashley) Newbigging, Tess (Mike) Lefor. Predeceased by her husband Glynn Coghlin (d.1987), husband Steve Walsh (d. 2014), daughter Debra Newbigging, and granddaughter Bianca, sister Ada (Allan) Cornish, brothers Erle (Doreen, Gertie), and Bruce (Ann). Survived by sister-in-law Ann Roger, John Newbigging and the Walsh family. Her 32 great grandchildren gave her great pleasure.   • Helen Lillias Henry (née Broughton)

    July 4, 1929 – March 17, 2026 Helen Lillias Henry, of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on March 17, 2026, at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Lorne Alexander Henry (1995), with whom she shared many devoted years of marriage after their wedding on May 28, 1949. Loving and dedicated partner in both life and farming, Helen spent 19 years working side by side with Lorne on their farm, building a life rooted in hard work and quiet strength. Born in Elma Township on July 4, 1929, Helen was the cherished daughter of the late George Alexander Broughton and Lillie Marion (Young) Broughton. Survived by her sister Georgina (the late Bob) Hennick She was predeceased by her siblings: Mildred (Tom) Elder, Mae (first Alex Buchanan, second Maurice Cox), Lottie (Roy Hinks), William (Florence), Pearl (Rudy Youngblut), infant brother George, Marion Hinz (Ivan Hinz), Alice (William Baillie), and Shirley (Elmer Hinz). Helen will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Nancy Diehl, Kim Hennick, Joan & Vern Smith and family for all their help over the years and a special thanks to Shannon for her care and kindness to Helen.    A woman of deep faith, Helen was a longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Monkton, where she was actively involved in the Women’s Missionary Society, served as president of WA and contributed faithfully to her church community serving as a board member for over 25 years. Helen worked for many years with Campbell Soup Company and was known for her strong work ethic and quiet determination. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with friends, especially at her cherished coffee group. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood, on Friday March 20 2026 from 2 PM- 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM.     April 16, 1934- March 14,2026 Passed away peacefully, after a short battle with cancer, at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of 66 years to Agnes Little (née Burrill). Loving father of Andrew Little of Atwood, Richard (Alison) Little of Cambridge, and Laura (Mike) Coppola of Rockwood. Cherished grandfather of Briar, Stuart, Nathan, and Adam. Survived by his siblings Rachael (Ken) Metcalf of Vernon, BC and Michael (Pat) Little of Atwood. Predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Annie Little, and his sister Joyce (John) Neufeld. Doug was known for his integrity and leadership within the community. He enjoyed good conversation with friends, but loved his farm and his family most of all. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place.     of Strathroy, formerly of Mitchell, passed away peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Tuesday March 3, 2026 in her 90 th  year. Beloved wife of late Harvey Dougall (2018) whom she married in 1954.  Loving mother of Gwen and family, Linda and family, Alina and family, and Tracey and family. Fondly remembered Fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special mom to Marilyn and family. She was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents John and Doris Zrudlo her sister Doreen. In keeping with Marie wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.  Burial to take place in Carman, Manitoba at a later date.     December 21, 1938 - February 27, 2026 Of Monkton passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on February 27, 2026 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Ruth Schmidt (nee Elg) whom he was married to for 67 years. Loving father of Julie Schmidt (Steve Maddock), Jarvin (MJ) Schmidt and Shawn Schmidt (Dorine Cherry). He will be missed by his 3 grandchildren Derek (Andrea) Ward, April (Derek) Bannon, Devon (Sarah) Ward and great grandchildren Russell, Carter, Brayden, Evelyn, Lauren, Bentley and Natalie. Survived by his siblings June (Bill) Westman, Mryna (the late Earl) Schmidt, Carol Lines (Bob Ernest), Leonard (Joyce) Schmidt, Judy (Gary) Schweitzer, brothers in law and sister in laws Marg (the late Bill) Stahlke, Robert (Marg) Elg, Verna Morris, Roy Elg, Ralph (Eleanor) Elg, George (Barb) Elg and Bruce (Joanne) Elg . Predeceased by his parents Harry and Clara Schmidt and brother in law Robert Lines and sister in law Dorothy Elg and in infancy. Lawrence was born in Hamstead Ontario and raised in Milverton. He was known in Monkton and area as a long time business owner. He started Schmidt Garage and Welding as a licenced mechanic in August of 1962 until August of 2012. Lawrence was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Monkton and was a volunteer Firefighter for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and will be remembered for his skill and knowledge he put into every project he was apart of. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 14th, 2026, from 1 PM- 4 PM at the Elma Logan Recreation Centre.
