Iola Subject passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on January 23, 2026, at the age of 84.
Beloved wife of the late John Subject, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Together, Iola and John built a life grounded in family, faith, and community.
Loving mother of Brenda McKinnon, Harold (Bev) Subject, Kevin (Wendy) Subject and the late David Subject in infancy. Cherished grandmother of Jesse (Nicole), Curtis, Cody (Saunie), Bobby (Carrie), Stacey (Sean), Trevor, Michael (Tonya), Mitchell and the late Marshall and Matthew and proud great-grandmother of Isla, Lane, Kinzley, Michael, Olivia, Avery, Liam, Easton, Chase and Wendel, Elijah, Xavier and Isiah.
Survived by her brother Victor (the late Dorothy) Bell, and sister Leora (Larry) Graw.
Predeceased by her brother Rae Bell and sister Francis Ingram.
Iola was a creative and caring woman who found joy in quilting and crafting, often working alongside John painting saws and sharing her talents with others. She was a quiet but steady presence in the community, supporting John’s many years of service with the Atwood Lions Club and enjoying time spent with family, friends, and Family Paradise Campground.
Fondly remembered by members of the Bell and Subject family, extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family service will be held. Interment will take place in Elma Centre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Atwood Lions Club and the Alzheimer’s society would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.brennenmanfuneralhome.ca
