Helen Lillias Henry (née Broughton)

July 4, 1929 – March 17, 2026

Helen Lillias Henry, of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on March 17, 2026, at the age of 96.

Beloved wife of the late Lorne Alexander Henry (1995), with whom she shared many devoted years of marriage after their wedding on May 28, 1949. Loving and dedicated partner in both life and farming, Helen spent 19 years working side by side with Lorne on their farm, building a life rooted in hard work and quiet strength.

Born in Elma Township on July 4, 1929, Helen was the cherished daughter of the late George Alexander Broughton and Lillie Marion (Young) Broughton.

Survived by her sister Georgina (the late Bob) Hennick

She was predeceased by her siblings: Mildred (Tom) Elder, Mae (first Alex Buchanan, second Maurice Cox), Lottie (Roy Hinks), William (Florence), Pearl (Rudy Youngblut), infant brother George, Marion Hinz (Ivan Hinz), Alice (William Baillie), and Shirley (Elmer Hinz). Helen will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Nancy Diehl, Kim Hennick, Joan & Vern Smith and family for all their help over the years and a special thanks to Shannon for her care and kindness to Helen.   

A woman of deep faith, Helen was a longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Monkton, where she was actively involved in the Women’s Missionary Society, served as president of WA and contributed faithfully to her church community serving as a board member for over 25 years.

Helen worked for many years with Campbell Soup Company and was known for her strong work ethic and quiet determination.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with friends, especially at her cherished coffee group. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood, on Friday March 20 2026 from 2 PM- 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, on March 21 at 11 AM, with interment will take place in spring at Elma Centre Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Atwood Presbyterian Church, Listowel Memorial Hospital, or Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth.
