of Strathroy, formerly of Mitchell, passed away peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Tuesday March 3, 2026 in her 90 th year. Beloved wife of late Harvey Dougall (2018) whom she married in 1954. Loving mother of Gwen and family, Linda and family, Alina and family, and Tracey and family. Fondly remembered Fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Special mom to Marilyn and family. She was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents John and Doris Zrudlo her sister Doreen. December 21, 1938 - February 27, 2026 Of Monkton passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on February 27, 2026 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Ruth Schmidt (nee Elg) whom he was married to for 67 years. Loving father of Julie Schmidt (Steve Maddock), Jarvin (MJ) Schmidt and Shawn Schmidt (Dorine Cherry). He will be missed by his 3 grandchildren Derek (Andrea) Ward, April (Derek) Bannon, Devon (Sarah) Ward and great grandchildren Russell, Carter, Brayden, Evelyn, Lauren, Bentley and Natalie. Survived by his siblings June (Bill) Westman, Mryna (the late Earl) Schmidt, Carol Lines (Bob Ernest), Leonard (Joyce) Schmidt, Judy (Gary) Schweitzer, brothers in law and sister in laws Marg (the late Bill) Stahlke, Robert (Marg) Elg, Verna Morris, Roy Elg, Ralph (Eleanor) Elg, George (Barb) Elg and Bruce (Joanne) Elg . Predeceased by his parents Harry and Clara Schmidt and brother in law Robert Lines and sister in law Dorothy Elg and in infancy. Lawrence was born in Hamstead Ontario and raised in Milverton. He was known in Monkton and area as a long time business owner. He started Schmidt Garage and Welding as a licenced mechanic in August of 1962 until August of 2012. Lawrence was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Monkton and was a volunteer Firefighter for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and will be remembered for his skill and knowledge he put into every project he was apart of. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 14th, 2026, from 1 PM- 4 PM at the Elma Logan Recreation Centre. David Wesley George Morrison went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the age of 87. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Eileen Morrison (nee Williamson), his children Jennifer Clarke (Byron), Christina Kuepfer (Kevin) and Brian Morrison, and his grandchildren Dylan, Jonathan, Logan, Leah, Alex and Evan. He will also be missed by siblings Jim Morrison (Shirley), Marilyn Gardecki (Lenard), Dorothy Johnston and Jan Wombwell (Arthur) and in-laws Eric Williamson (Jackie), Chris Hodgson, Doris Williamson, Linda Williamson and Lois Williamson. He is predeceased by his parents George and Marjorie (Simmons) Morrison, brother Wayne Morrison, sister Ruth Rector and brother-in-laws Joe Rector, Ray Johnston, Neil Williamson, Wayne Williamson and sister-in-law Lois Hodgson. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Dave was a long-time resident of Maryborough township (Mapleton) spending the majority of his adult life raising purebred Hereford cattle and Scottish Blackface sheep. He continued this into his mid-eighties as it brought him a lot of joy. Over the years he also worked as a truck driver for Knechtel’s and as a school bus driver in Wellington County. He loved driving and knew every road and little town in the area. His strong, quiet faith carried him through many challenges in his life, especially with declining health in his final years, but he never lost his determination to keep going or his sense of humour. He had a deep love for his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed keeping up with all of the family happenings. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 1pm at Woodside Bible Fellowship, (200 Barnswallow Drive, Elmira). A Funeral will be held following this at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to stay for a luncheon in the fellowship hall at the conclusion of the service. Spring internment to follow. April 20, 1932- February 17, 2026 Passed away peacefully at West Perth Village in Mitchell on Tuesday February 17, 2026 in her 94 th year Eileen was dedicated to her family and was the beloved wife of the late Harry Mann (1990). Loving mother of Sharon (Andrew) Pharazyn of Woodstock and Allan (Heather) Mann of RR1 Listowel. Cherished grandmother of Joanna (Jonathan) Gutierrez, Michael (Brianna) Pharazyn, Grant (Kristen) Pharazyn, and Allison Mann. Great grandmother of Valin, Joshua, Harry, Natalie and the late baby Lucas. Predeceased by Winnifred (Charles) Mann, Jean (Gordon) Stiles, Stewart Steiss and brothers in law and sisters in law of the Mann family. Mary “Luann” Schmidt passed away peacefully at her home in Atwood on February 12, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of LeRoy for 50 years. Loving mother of David Schmidt, Teresa Schmidt & Carl MacDonald. Cherished grandmother of Aiden and Keelan Schmidt, and twins Kaitlyn and Emily MacDonald. Luann will be missed by her siblings Janet & Lynn Tucker, Don & Nancy Miller, Jim & Bev Miller, and by her extended family including Amy Miller, Jim Williamson, Patrick Hill, Sandy Miller, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George Hartley and Marjorie Miller (née Mulcaster), and by her siblings Glen Miller, Donna & Ken Feick, Dorothy Williamson, Alva Hill, and Ron Miller. Luann worked at Campbell’s Soup for over 25 years and was happiest at home, enjoying quiet moments and her favourite television programs. December 19, 1980 – February 10, 2026 Scott Roe of Ayton, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of 45. Scott was a devoted father to his daughter, Jillian Rose-Marie Roe, who was the centre of his world. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Gloria Roe of Atwood, and was predeceased by his father, Paul Roe (January 20, 2021). Dear brother of Chris Roe (Linda Couto) residing in Newry. He will also be remembered by aunts & uncles including John & Nancy Roe of Blyth, Linda Roe & Joey Farrell of Thunder Bay, Dianne & John St Cyr of Burlington, Jim & Audrene Harloff of Milverton and Nancy & Donnie Hutton of Listowel. Many cousins and extended family members will also miss Scott dearly. Scott’s sudden passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him. He was a big fella with an even bigger personality. His family & friends will remember him for his love of large dogs like Lucy, Vader and several past Mastiffs and St Bernards. Scott took meticulous care of his diesel trucks and deeply enjoyed the freedom of an open road. All of which pales in comparison to his love & devotion to his pride and joy daughter Jillian. The love he carried for those closest to him will be sorely missed. Visitation will take place on Thursday February 19th, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood. Bernice Cockwell, of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Neil Cockwell, with whom she shared nearly 66 years of devoted marriage and partnership. Bernice was a loving mother to Brian (Debra) Cockwell, Bruce (Janet) Cockwell, and Donna (Rob) Jeske, and a proud and cherished grandmother to Nigel (Jessica), Jillian (Aaron), Alyssa (Evan), Kirstie (Greg), Taylor (Jordan), and Josh (Jenna). She was also a deeply adored great-grandmother to Harper and Landry. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them was constant, steady, and unconditional. She is fondly remembered by her sister Shirley (the late Adam) Kornacker; brothers-in-law Leon (the late Gladys) Carter and Murray Cockwell; sister-in-law Bette Cockwell; her extended family; and many dear friends. Bernice was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Nellie Bell, and by her husband Neil, whose passing in 2023 left a profound absence in her life. Bernice was a proud member of the Red Hats Society and served as a director of the Atwood District Lioness Club, where she generously gave her time and heart to the community. Bernice loved her years at Harvey Krotz Ford and the bonds of friendship formed there. Known for her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit, she had a natural way of making others feel welcome and at ease. Her home was a place of comfort, and her presence brought calm and reassurance. In her final years at Perth Meadows, she found renewed happiness and companionship, reuniting with old friends, welcoming new ones, and embracing the caring, close-knit community that meant so much to her. Bernice will be remembered for her deep love of family, her strength, her compassion, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. Though her passing leaves a profound void, her legacy endures through the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so dearly. October 27, 1938 to April 13, 2020 John Subject – of Atwood, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Monday April 13, 2020 at the age of 81. After retiring from the farm, John began a career building houses and selling OAA insurance. John was a life member of the Atwood Lions Club having received both the Melvin Jones and Helen Keller awards for his outstanding service to the community for over 45 years. He was instrumental in organizing and running the weekly Thursday night bingo. John participated in the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign and enjoyed helping Iola with quilting and painting saws. John and Iola spent many summers enjoying their trailer at Family Paradise Campground with family and friends. Beloved husband of Iola (Bell) Subject with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on August 1, 2019. Loving father of Brenda McKinnon, Harold (Bev) Subject and Kevin (Wendy and family) Subject. Lawrence Kingwell Passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, in his 91st year. Beloved and devoted husband of Sharron, with whom he shared a love that was deep, steady, and unmistakable. Their life together was marked by faith, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Proud and loving father of Murray (Sharon) Kingwell and Paul (Evelyn) Kingwell. Cherished stepfather of Jeff (Krista) Mitchell and Julie (Al MacDonald) Mitchell. Lawrence was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lawrence was a quiet source of strength to his family, always present, always dependable. Lawrence was a dear brother to Kenny (Linda) Kingwell, with whom he shared a close and meaningful bond. A man of deep faith, Lawrence was a devoted member of Listowel Pentecostal Church. His love for God guided his life, and his faith remained a constant source of comfort and purpose. He often leaned on the promise found in Psalm 91“You are loved.” Lawrence had a fondness for the simple joys in life, including his regular visits to Tim Hortons, and he was famously known for knowing his way around Southwestern Ontario, if you needed directions, Lawrence was the one to ask. He will be remembered for his kindness, his steady presence, his love for his family, and his unwavering faith. A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Harriston Cemetery at a later date.
