Elgin was a member of Atwood United Church and the former Loyal Orange Lodge Atwood No. 630. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite (Johnson) Wilson who predeceased him in 2004. Loving father of Marie and Kevin Semple and Tom and Sherri Wilson all of Listowel. Special grandpa of Brydone Semple and friend Samantha Edgar, Matthew Semple, Joey, Zach, and Katelyn Wilson. She was a former member of the Maple Leaf Women's Institute and enjoyed needlework when relaxing. Beloved wife of the late Weldon Nichol who predeceased her in 2006. May 16, 1917 to December 7, 2011 Carl Alfred Ruppel, of Palmerston, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the age of 94. United again with his loving wife Lloye Ruppel who predeceased him in 1999. Sadly missed by nephews Neil McDonald (Chong Huang) of Kitchener, David Linton of BC, the Adams family of Palmerston and many dear friends. Carl was a World War II Veteran of the 28th Field Ambulance and served on the Lady Nelson Hospital Ship from July 15th 1942-January 26th 1946. He was also a devoted parishioner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Listowel. Predeceased by his parents John and Ida (Lehman) Ruppel. In keeping with Carl's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery Listowel.
