February 7, 1947 to March 22, 2020 Martin Hain – of RR1 Atwood, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday March 22, 2020 at the age of 73. Marty was a welder by trade and also a part-time musician. He enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, “doodling” and playing his drums. Beloved husband of Diane (Fleming) Hain whom he married in 2003. Loving father of Marty Bodkin of Sarnia and Laura Bodkin of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Step-father of Angie (Terry) Lannin of Atwood, Monique (Paul) Gerber of Woodstock and Dan Wimmenhove of Atwood. Grandfather of Austin Bodkin, Janine and Steve Makel and their daughter Clara, Caryn Lannin, Heather Lannin and Trent Martin, and Zac Halliday. Brother of Muriel Berkopec, Marion Demone, Sylvia Dolvin and brother-in-law of Dora Tweedle, Barb Fleming, Gail and Rod Lambert, and Jayne Fleming. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents James and Marion (Adams) Hain, brothers-in-law Joe Berkopec, Joe Demone, Bill Dolvin, Lyle Tweedle, Dave Fleming and Keith Fleming. Delilah was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith. Beloved wife of the late Allan Z. Kuepfer who predeceased her in 1984. Loving mother of Peter and Bertha of Cardigan PEI, David and Eva of Tiverton, Priscilla and Chris Zehr, and Adeline Kuepfer, all of RR1 Newton. Step-mother of Mary Ann and Reuben S. June 26, 1954 to February 15, 2020 Tony Emond – of Route 1, Monkton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday February 15, 2020 in his 66th year. Tony was a farmer at heart for 45 years. He came to Canada at the age of 18 and started full time dairy farming on his own at 20. Tony milked cows for 30 years and cash cropped the last 15. Loving husband of Julie. Loving father of Amy (Mark) and Sandra (Phil). Loving opa to 10 grandchildren. Survived by brothers and sisters in Holland and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Holland and Canada. Following Tony’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Gloria was a former employee of Listowel Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. She volunteered with North Perth Seniors, CKNX radiothon and enjoyed spending time on genealogy, dancing and travelling with her friends and family. Beloved wife of the late Wayne Bowman who predeceased her in 2008. Loving mother of Charlotte and Virginia. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Barry and Laura, Wayne, Tammy, Trevor and Carrie, Mike and Janey. Gloria was the last surviving member of her family being predeceased by her parents Archie and Doris (Hall) Jacklin, her sister Ruth Farrish and her brothers Barry and Keith Jacklin. September 25, 2005 to February 10, 2020 Taylor Marie Long – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Taylor as a result of a snowmobile accident on Monday February 10, 2020 at the age of 14. Taylor enjoyed participating in different sports, but excelled in gymnastics. She always had a smile on her face and loved spending time with little children. Taylor loved animals, especially Striker and Jake. She was a student at LDSS and a valued employee at Ben and Sandy’s dairy farm along with her brother Logan. Cherished daughter of Troy and Tracey (DeJong) Long. Dear sister of Logan. Loving granddaughter of Robert and Marie DeJong and Don and Wanda Long. Missed by her aunts and uncles Rick and Kimberlee DeJong, Jason and Tawnya Long, Adam and Lisa Long, Mark and Laura Long. Dick was a member of Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel. Beloved husband of Anne (Klumpenhower) Timmerman whom he married in 1993. Step-father of Rosely (Mark) Schwarz, Jerry (Renee) Ritskes, Mike (Irene) Ritskes, Jim (Tamara) Ritskes. Remembered by 15 step grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren. Brother and brother-in-law of Linda Timmerman, Rick and Hilda Timmerman, Irene and Ken Clapperton, John and Gail Timmerman, Ginny Meurs, Susan and Garry Schinbein. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and the extended Klumpenhower and VanLeeuwen families. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, making turtles and chocolates and spending time with her family and friends at the cottage. Beloved wife of Paul Erwin whom she married in 1972. Loving mother and grandmother of Jeff and Nancy Erwin and their children Gracie and Mason, Julie Erwin and her daughter Marly and Julie’s partner Peter Holland and his children Connor and Kaden. October 13, 1930 to January 30, 2020 Howard Neil Darroch passed away January 30, 2020 in his 90th year surrounded by the peace that accompanies those who lived their lives wrapped in the love of their family and community. Howard was born October 13, 1930 and was raised by his parents Robert and Verna (McKnight) Darroch in a small home beside the railway yard in Palmerston with his brothers Glen (2018), Gerald and sister Audrey (2019). His family were proud railroad workers and he continued this tradition for a time before leaving the railroad to settle with his beloved wife Myrta Buchanan (1993) in Atwood, Ontario. Together they raised Robert (2017), Dianne (Paul), and Michael (Theresa). After Myrt’s passing in 1993, Howard was fortunate to marry Barbara (2018) and enjoy the companionship of a loving second partner in life. Howard was a hard worker, good provider for his family and source of lots of fun. He was a talented woodworker and these skills were evident in his strongly built house and cottage and in the many pieces of folk art that he created for his family. In his later years, he enjoyed sharing his gifts with his grandchildren Chad, Christopher and Matthew Lichti, Alex (2018), Melissa and Scott Darroch and great grandchildren Bennett, Cora and Colton Lichti. Howard was known for his zany slapstick humour and terrible jokes. Howard will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The world is a better place because he was here to remind us of the value of kindness, quiet strength, and a good laugh at our own expense. October 21, 1935 to January 1, 2020 Marjorie Elizabeth Smith – After a long battle with dementia, the family announces Marjorie’s peaceful passing, with her family by her side, on January 1, 2020 at the age of 84. She resided in Gorrie and was formerly of Monkton, Mitchell and Wiarton. Marjorie was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church in each community, the Women’s Institute, Trinity Group, Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Hats at various times throughout her life. She is now reunited with her beloved late husband of 56 years Henry (2009), her sons Michael (1975) and Charlie (2019). Dear mother of Susanne (Bill) Bos, Brad (Donna) Smith and mother-in-law of Lori Smith. Will be dearly missed by her friend Dawn Erison and loving niece Wendy Thorn. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Grace (Dave) Park and Joan Smith. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and GG to 23 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. March 9, 1944 to December 30, 2019 Walter Earl Strickert – of Listowel, formerly of Ethel, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Monday December 30, 2019 at the age of 75. He now joins his beloved Verna in heaven. Walter will be remembered as “every one’s Uncle Wally” and was able to fix everyone’s car in Ethel. He worked as a mechanic at Double T Garage for many years. Walter also loved to play cards and marbles with his family and enjoyed knitting hats for family and friends. Beloved husband of the late Verna (Brubacher) Strickert who predeceased him in 2016. Survived by his brothers and sisters John, Mary Hartman, Irvin (Shirley), Frieda (Les) Ducharme, and Lillian (Dave) Grandy. Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Irene Wagler, Mervin Brubacher, Candie Brubacher, Williard Brubacher, Alice (Clayt) Knorr, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
