July 30, 1961- April 13, 2021 Kendal Ambedian – of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday April 13, 2021 at the age of 59. Kendal will be remembered as a very sociable person who enjoyed the company of others. She loved to sing, act in plays and animals. Kendal was so appreciative of her caregiver team especially Kathy-Jo. Beloved daughter of Goldie (Robert) Kamrath and the late Edward Ambedian. Loving sister of Lynn Ambedian, Marty (Jean) Ambedian, Leslie Ambedian (Peter Kotanen). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Desmond, Ricki, Krys, Simon and her great-niece Sienna. April 5, 1932 - May 8, 2021 Ardis Smith – of Listowel, formerly of Atwood passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday May 8, 2021 at the age of 89. Ardis was a former member of the Donegal Women’s Institute and enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and sewing. She loved celebrating birthdays with the ladies birthday group and coffee time at the Atwood Cafe with the Atwood ladies. Above all, Ardis was so proud of her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. Beloved wife of Larry Smith whom she celebrated 68 years of marriage with on January 10. Loving mother of Paul (Aline) Smith, Carla (Brad) Matheson, Leanne (Rob) Hamilton. Special grandma of Stacey Bailey (Patrick), Shawn Smith (Alicia), Kaley Smith (Al), Cole Smith (Taylor), Christina Anderson (Kristopher), Aaron McDonald (Lacey), Jessica McDonald, Christa Vanderlinden (Nigel), Jenny Beirnes (Mike), Jillian Boyd, Justin Hamilton (Ashlee) and Josie Hamilton (Dave). Remembered as “little grandma” by her great grandchildren Karson, Kai, Blake, Emerson, Ayda, Kohen, Mason, Emily, Ryan, Aubrey, Rowan, Chloe, Brook, Emrie, Rhyland, Leighton, Wyatt, Keegan, Paiton, Olivia and Sully. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Joyce Jacobs and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Maitland and Margaret (Porterfield) Fisher and her brother Roger Fisher and his wife Ruth. A private family visitation and service will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood. Pastor Brian Hymers officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood. July 5, 1940 - April 6, 2021 John Gerber of Milverton, passed away peacefully in Stratford General Hospital with family by his side on April 6, 2021 at the age of 80. John was born in Ellice Township, a loving son of the late John and Anna (Yoder) Gerber. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Albrecht) with whom he shared 15 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Richard and his wife Heather, Roger and his wife Judy, Bonnie and her husband David Ropp and Donna and her husband Dale Schultz. Step-father of Marlene and Maury Patton and Sharon and Owen Price. Special Grandpa of Jordan Gerber (fiancé Caitlyn), Jamie Gerber (Hannah), Adam Ropp (Hayley), Scott and Callie Ropp, Ryan Ropp (Anna), Rebecca Ropp (fiancé Justin), Danielle and Sam Zehr, Renee and Braden Gerber, Austin Schultz, Noah Patton, Emma Patton, Kalyn Price and Nolan Price. Cherished Great-Grandpa of Emmanuel and Paisley. Many memories were made on Grandpa’s farm driving the toys that he shared and on vacations at Chesley Lake. John was a member of Poole Mennonite Church where he served as Elder, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Sponsor and in many other capacities. He owned and operated John Gerber Construction, serving the community and beyond for over 55 years. His son Roger worked alongside him for 33 years. John loved spending time with his tractor club friends driving his Farmall tractor. He enjoyed opening his door to help many people in need and they were always welcomed. John was predeceased by his first wife Pauline (Steckly) in 2001 with whom he enjoyed 39 years of marriage. He was the brother and brother-in-law of the late Frieda and David Jutzi, Mary and Delmar Bender, Clara and the late Lester Leis, Irene and the late Hans Troester, Bud and Ruth Gerber, Judy and John Mohr, the late William and Merrill Steckley, Beatrice and the late Roy Steckley, and Patricia and Melvin Jantzi. A family visitation took place on Friday April 9, 2021 at Poole Mennonite Church where a private family funeral service to celebrate John’s life was held on Saturday April 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Fred Redekop officiating. Interment in Poole Mennonite Cemetery. May 16, 1946 - March 18, 2021 Kenneth Carlson – of Waterloo, formerly of Columbia Missouri, passed away peacefully into the arms of an Angel after a brief illness on Thursday March 18, 2021 at the age of 74. Ken grew up on a holstein dairy farm in Minnesota USA where he went to Warren Minnesota Public School. He studied at Waldorf University and later worked at Sheridan College as the College Administrator. Ken always had a twinkle in his eye and a huge laugh that filled the house. He was a kind and warm-hearted soul. He loved a walk, a good book, watching sports and discussing the game plays with his brother Rod over the telephone. Ken enjoyed intelligent conversations with his nephews and nieces and always signed off with “bye from your best-looking uncle”. Ken has since worked at retirement with Faye. He was loved by his partner Faye A. Welsh (nee Pestell). He leaves behind two wonderful daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Aaron Hopper of Moberly, Missouri and Jean and JD Shaver of Aurora, Colorado and six grandchildren. Survived by his brothers Mylo (Marlene) Carlson, Rodney Carlson and sisters Mary (Keith deceased) Myhrer and Janet (Paul) Aakre. Fondly remembered by Faye’s family, Mary Strachan, Lorraine Dewar, Larry Pestell and Arlene Riehl, Robert Pestell, Andy Buchanan, Elaine Pestell, Pauline Pestell, Lois and Fraser Donaldson. Predeceased by his parents Myron and Margaret (Martyn) Carlson. August 3, 1980 - March 15, 2021 David Raycraft of London, formerly of Monkton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday March 15, 2021 at the age of 40. David loved fixing anything mechanical. He was a graduate of Fanshawe College, Motor Vehicle Technician program. He served his apprenticeship at Larry Hudson in Listowel where he then became a Goodwrench Technician. Beloved son of Elwood and the late Nancy (Ludwig) Raycraft. Step son of Olive (Cheyne) Raycraft. Loving brother of Jennifer LeBlanc, step-brother of Jae (Carrie) Cheyne and step-uncle of Alexandra and Brennan. Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his grandparents Kenneth and Anna Ludwig and Edward and Laura Raycraft. A family memorial service to celebrate David’s life will be held with Rev. Marc Fraser officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton. Ronald was a member of the Brussels branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Huron Threshers and a former Volunteer Firefighter for Grey Township. Beloved husband of the late Susanne Cardiff who predeceased him in 2019. Loving father of Larry (Julie) and Brian (Colleen). Dear brother of Sharon (Donald) Posthumus. July 11, 1946 - March 5, 2021 Jim Martin of RR#4 Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on March 5, 2021 at Listowel Memorial Hospital, in his 75th year. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Anita of Kitchener, Tony and April of Atwood, Steve and Jennifer of Springwater. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Christopher, Jeremy, Maci and Jasper. Jim is also survived by his sister, Faye Peelar of Barrie, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from Alberta. Jim is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Lea (Visser), his parents Austin & Eva Martin, his in-laws Alice & Len Visser, his brothers Don & Gord, his sister Leona and sister-in-law Anne. At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow at a later date. Interment at Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood. May 8, 1939 - February 28, 2021 Ralph Brenneman formerly of Wellesley, passed away peacefully at his residence in Nithview Community, New Hamburg on Sunday February 28, 2021 at the age of 81. In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Poole Mennonite Church, 6475 Perth Road 121, on Sunday November 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Fred Redekop officiating. All those attending must provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and identification prior to entering. Masks are required. January 11, 1946 - March 13, 2021 Wayne Grube of Atwood, passed away at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday March 13, 2021 at the age of 75. Wayne was a retired industrial electrician. He loved animals, wildlife photography, riding his Argo/ATV and anything to do with the great outdoors. Beloved husband of Barb (Bray) Grube whom he married in 1966. Loving father of George Grube, Deb and Joe Cabral. Special grandpa of Mercedes, Beverly, Hope, Chelsea and Kyle. Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Charles and Mary Lynn Bray, Donald and Dianne Bray and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Iola (Nicholls) Grube, granddaughter Candice and sister Nancy MacKenzie. In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation will take place. January 23, 1984 - February 9, 2021 Nolan Benton Ryan Krotz, or just Krotzy as many knew him, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at the age of 37 as a result of a heart attack. He was born January 23, 1984 in Listowel, a beloved son to Allan and Cheryl. Dear brother of Jenna (Steve) Morris, Kelby (Brett) Smith and special uncle of Olivia, Owen, Harlee and Axton. Fondly loved and remembered by his grandmother Marlene Krotz,many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his dogs, or as he called them “kids”, Bull and Kyja. Predeceased by his grandparents Ray and Marg Rock and Doug Krotz. Growing up he had such a love and passion for playing hockey, a lot of time was spent at hockey arenas and that continued through his high school years at F.E.Madill. Even while he attended the University of Waterloo he was playing Junior C in Wingham. Nolan worked in a few different trades until he landed his job in the oil and gas industry at UT Quality where he developed a passion to continuously upgrade his knowledge and became an AUT Operator. Nolan was passionate about life, his work, and his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest. He didn’t take anything for granted and was happiest catching up over a drink. He was a kind, genuine, thoughtful and selfless soul and made each person he encountered feel special. He was giving and forgiving. He had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room. He loved to make people laugh and always stuck out in a crowd because of his unique outfit choices. Nolan made each moment count (even though he would lose track of those moments and was notorious for running late). He wasn’t bothered though because he lived life on his own terms. Forever missing your zest for life. Until next time, all of our love and more. A private family memorial service will take place and a celebration of life is to be arranged at a future date.
