formerly of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Ritz Lutheran Villa on Sunday May 20, 2018 at the age of 89. Shirley was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Monkton and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed quilting, fishing and going on bus trips. Beloved wife of the late Alvin Ritz who predeceased her in 2001. Loving mother of Lynda Cooper, David, Jim (Susan), Rhonda Sutherland, Lori Smith (Charles) and Steven (Diane). Special grandma of Carol and Mark, Tosha, Robin and Jonathon, Jayme and Jenna, Christopher and Trish, Krista and Matt, Jason and Shannon, Jeff and Kelly, Jeremy and Angela, James and Vicki, Kyle and Amy, Nathan and Stacy and great-grandma of 23 great-grandchildren. Sister of Lois Peever (Clarence) and sister-in-law of Ruth Vrooman and Jean Vrooman. Predeceased by her parents Louis and Ada (Greenaway) Vrooman, son-in-law Jack Sutherland, sisters Grace Campbell (Andrew), Rose Harloff (Walter), brothers Arthur (Eleanor), Vincent, Kenneth, Donald (Frances) and brother-in-law Mac McKay. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Wednesday May 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Monkton on Thursday May 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Marvin Bublitz officiating. Interment in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Monkton.
