Margaret Fleming

July 10, 1918 to September 20, 2008

Our cherished mother Margaret Amelia Fleming, nee Cole passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 20th 2008. She was born in Fullarton Township on July 10th, 1918 and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Brydone Fleming. Margaret will be deeply missed by her daughters Karen and Kathryn who feel truly blessed to have had their lives enriched by her constant and abundant love and support. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother Lloyd and her sister-in-law Gladys; her nephew Harry Nott and his wife Sharon; her nephew Ken Cole and his wife Marg; her special cousin Esther Smale; and her devoted and loving friend Krista Hodder. In 1940, Margaret graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Stratford General Hospital and worked in Stratford until her marriage in 1948. Together she and her late husband Dr. Brydone Fleming (OVC 1949) served the Atwood farming community until his death in 1975. They were both very proud of their village and were strong supporters of the Presbyterian Church and the Lions Club. Margaret was an avid gardener, bridge player, antique collector, world traveler and a wonderful friend to many. Family, friendship and faith were the cornerstones of Margaret's life; these foundations helped her always meet life's challenges and adventures with courage, hope and determination. With her beautiful smile and kind, generous spirit, Margaret endeared herself to all who had the good fortune to know her. Possessed of a gentle grace and quiet, private nature, Margaret was nonetheless a strong, independent woman who unfailingly gave her best to every endeavour. Her kindness, love, courage and strength were inspirational. Margaret will be dearly missed but wonderful memories will rest in our hearts. Margaret's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home in Atwood on Monday September 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00. The Worship Service celebrating Margaret's well-lived life will be held at the Atwood Presbyterian Church on Tuesday September 23, 2008 at 1:00 with Rev. John Hogerwaard officiating.
