formerly of Atwood and Listowel, passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Friday August 10, 2018 at the age of 85. Harold was a member of Calvary United Church, Listowel, a former Steward and Elder of Atwood United Church and a former member of the Atwood Lions Club. He was a past president of Perth County Junior Farmers, a former member of the Listowel Junior Farmers, enjoyed singing in a gospel quartet and will be remembered for his love of gardening. Beloved husband for 58 years of Joan (Monteith) Smith. Loving father of Brad (Mary), Scott (Paula) and Bonnie (Rob) McLaren. Special grandpa of Curtis (Alysia), Jillian (Cody), Jennifer (Bryan), Carolyn (Winston), Katelyn (Nic), Greg (Erin), Corie, Jordan and great-grandpa of Lucas, Zachary, Grace, Lilly, Nolan and Ellie. Dear brother of Clare (Joanne). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Silas and Florence (Mayburry) Smith and his best gardening friend John Diniz. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Sunday August 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Harold’s life will be held at Calvary United Church, Listowel on Monday August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Hymers officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
