March 2, 1940 to December 26, 2015 Gerard Schalk of Listowel, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday December 26, 2015 at the age of 75. Gerard was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church. He was a former businessman in Atwood/Listowel as owner of Gerard Schalk Auto Body and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 259 Listowel. Gerard cherished the time spent with his family while camping, snowmobiling, travelling across this country and travelling abroad. He was an avid Nascar fan who followed his Fords from the livingroom as well as visiting many of the tracks. Devoted husband of Edith (Ropp) Schalk whom he married in 1964. Loving father of Susan and Jamie Murr, Laurie Schalk, Donald Schalk. Proud grandfather of Michelle and Chad, Mahria and Mike, Cody, Kurtis, Danielle and Eileen, and Derek. Great-grandfather of Cohen, Carter and Hadley. Dear brother of Willa Ament. May 14, 1925 to December 2, 2015 William G. (Bill) Frank of Route 1 Atwood, passed away peacefully on a crisp, sunny morning in the comfort of his own home, with the wood stove on, and the smell of bacon in the air and surrounded by his family on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at the age of 90. Born and raised in Waterloo where he grew up, went to school, married and started his family. He was well known as the owner of Frank's Jewellers in Waterloo, the business founded by his father in 1919 that he carried on and continued to operate. In 1975 he fulfilled his dream of owning a farm and moved with his family to Atwood where he was fortunate to live for the rest of his life. Loving father and best friend of son Jim, son Bill and wife Heather, and son Bob and partner Leanne. Special grandpa of Brittany, Kelsey and friend Nathan. Remembered by his niece, nephews and Helen Ann. Predeceased by his parents William P. and Roxie B. Frank and his brother Douglas Frank. January 22, 1927 to October 3, 2015 Kenneth (Ken) Nethercott It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Ken in the early morning hours of October 3, 2015 at Listowel Memorial Hospital in his 89th year. Ken was a faithful church member and very dedicated to Atwood United Church where he held many offices over the years. He was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 332 Atwood. His hobby was woodworking and over the years he made many treasures for family and friends. Ken loved reading, but farming was his passion and he was well known for the acres of strawberries that were enjoyed by so many. He leaves to mourn his wife Eileen, daughter Nancy Sinnamon (Wayne), son Jim Nethercott (Christina), son Jeff Nethercott (Marie Claude), grandchildren Tyler, Natasha and fiance Chris, Ryan, Noah, Adam and Clara, and sister-in-law Myrtle Nethercott.
