Steph was an adored teacher and colleague with the Avon Maitland District School Board. Steph was a special, one of a kind woman. Steph lived her life for her family, especially Blake and Evan who were the center of her universe. She was the kind of person who could light up a room and bring people together. Sadly missed by 38 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Willem immigrated to Canada in 1988. His greatest passion was his farming and his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Willem was so proud that all of his children followed in his footsteps as dairy farmers. Beloved husband of Aafke (Faber) Portena whom he married in 1959.     May 16, 1933 to October 1, 2019 Delphine Dewar – of Listowel and formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 86. Delphine was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church, the Atwood Presbyterian Women’s Institute and a former member of the Atwood Lioness Club. She was a sports enthusiast, playing baseball and basketball in her youth and lawn bowling in her senior years. She enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, and also her children and grandchildren’s sports teams. Delphine was also a Scout Leader for many years. Beloved wife of the late Jim Dewar who predeceased her in 2002. Loving mother of Glenn (Cathy), Barbara Armstrong, Jamie (Heather), and Murray (LeeAnne). Special Grandma of Jamie (Angie), Jennifer (Nicole), Stacy (Chris), Mandie, Steff (Sheila), Kelsey (Patrick), Conner (Jessica), Murcedes, Izsak (Samantha), Kristy (Ben), Steve (Jessica), Jackson, Devon, and great-grandma of Logan, Camrynn, Carter, Sara and Rayna. Bev was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Milverton. For many years she was a very active member of the Optimist Club of Mornington and a book keeper for Bill Horst Auctions. Bev was the smiling face that greeted hundreds of school children as their bus driver for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, word find puzzles, curling, watching baseball, especially her beloved Toronto Blue Jays, and her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren. Beloved wife of Mahlon Horst whom she married in 1984. Loving mother of Sheila (Adrian) DeVries. Special grandma of Madison, Emily, Jaydon, Jaxon, Payton and Kailey.     September 6, 1935 to August 29, 2019 Ray Atkinson - Surrounded by a loving family during a sudden decline, Ray Atkinson (83), formerly of Route 1 Atwood (originally from Bethesda), passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge in Milverton on Thursday August 29, 2019. Beloved husband of Nellie (Zwier) Atkinson, who predeceased him in 1994, he is survived by his children Terry (Lynda), Kevin (Amy), Kerry and Samantha. Special papa of of Jordan (Judith), Mackenzie (Rachel), Aedan, Griffin (Denisa), Ciara, Maura and Quin. Ray will be great missed by his sister Ruth and her husband Jim (Masters), sister Leona (Van Der Kony) and sister-in-law Betty Atkinson. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Luella (Fines) Atkinson, sister Helen Heise, brother Harold Atkinson and brother-in-law Peter Van Der Kooy. During most of his life, Ray worked on the farm at Bethesda, which had been in the Atkinson family for several generations. In midlife, he and Nellie moved their family to a farm at Atwood, where they settled into the community and spent happy years together working on the farm. During his long life, Ray enjoyed woodworking, making maple syrup and spending time with family and friends. He was very active in sports, in particular baseball and hockey - coaching both as his boys played in their youth. He loved a game of crokinole, which he continued to play up until the past year - defeating both young and old!
