Ruth Johnston

February 11, 1923 to May 12, 2010

Ruth Johnston, of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday May 12, 2010 in her 88th year. Ruth was a member of Donegal United Church where she was a long time choir member and taught Sunday School for many years. She was an active member of the Donegal U.C.W. and a former member of the Atwood Chapter of the Rebekah Lodge No. 343. Beloved wife of the late Lorne Johnston who predeceased her in 2004. Loving mother of Clarence and Donna of RR#2 Atwood, Ann and Graham Kaufman of Kitchener. Special grandma of Kevin and Karen, Kim and Mark, Kent and Heather, Brett and Sherry, Kara and Steve and great grandma of Tyler, Jamie, Alex, Kyla, Jaron, Aunika, Lana, Wade and Colby. Dear sister of Jean McNaughton of Listowel and sister-in-law of Anna Blatchford of Listowel, Ferne Johnston of Atwood, Marie and Edwin Ament of Elmira. Fondly remembered by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Anna (Love) Blatchford, son George, daughter-in-law Maxine, brother Bill Blatchford and brothers-in-law Harold McNaughton and Harold Johnston. Ruth's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home 141 John Street, Atwood, on Friday May 14 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at Donegal United Church on Saturday May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michelle Owens officiating. Interment in Donegal Cemetery.
