Laverne Jantzi

June 27, 1930 to May 1, 2015

Laverne Jantzi finished the course and was received into his eternal home on Friday May 1, 2015 at Knollcrest Lodge Milverton in his 85th year following a courageous struggle with ALS. Lovingly remembered by his children, Glen and Ellie of St Clements, Myron and Mary of Brunner, Larry and Dorothy of Calgary, Ruth Anne and Jonathan Koch of Stratford, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife Ruth (Jantzi) in 1995, brother Ivan and sister-in-law Marie, parents Nicholas and Mary and granddaughter Rebecca. Laverne will be missed by surviving brothers and sisters-in-law, Irvin and Ellen Jantzi, Ohmer and Esther Jantzi and nieces and nephews. Also missed by special friend Florence McFarlane. In 1997 Laverne married Ruth (Roth) who predeceased him in 2010. Fondly remembered by Ruth's children, Karen and Ed Gunn of Vancouver BC, Barry and Sharon Roth of Tokyo Japan, Darryl and Catharine Roth of Victoria BC, Melanie and Paul Smith of London and four grandchildren. The family deeply appreciated the supportive community Dad was privileged to be part of at Nithview Community in New Hamburg for many years. Words cannot express the gratitude for the phenomenal care provided by staff at Knollcrest Lodge in Milverton for the past five months. Friends and relatives may call at Faith Mennonite Church, Kingwood on Sunday May 3 from 1:30 to 5:00 and 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley on Monday May 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brent Kipfer officiating. Burial to follow in Maple View Cemetery.
