March 31 1950 - December 13, 2023
Keith McMillan of Bayfield, formerly of Seaforth and Atwood, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich on Wednesday December 13 th, 2023, at the age of 73.
Beloved husband to Bonnie McMillan (nee McIver). They were in their 50 th year of marriage. Loving father of Lucas (Kelly) McMillan of Waterloo, Heather (Jason) Denstedt of Shanty Bay and Ian McMillan of Kincardine. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra and Abigail. He will be remembered by his siblings Murray (Linda), Kevin (Carrie), and Marion, plus nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and Australia. Keith is predeceased by his parents John and Ina McMillan and his sister Margaret.
Keith spent his life dedicated to agriculture. He was well known throughout Southwestern Ontario as his work brought him close to many farming families, most notably through his work at Pioneer Hi-Bred and culminating with his version of ‘retirement’ at Crop Quest.
He loved his vacation families and was a proud member of those communities wherever he went. His favourite stories usually came from the early days in Atwood, and from time spent at Pine Lake, Canada House, and his recently adopted boating family at A Dock in Goderich.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Elma Memorial Community Centre 251 Main St. Atwood, Ontario. On January 13 th, 2024, between 2:00 and 5:00. Family tributes will take place at 3:00. Making too much of a fuss might risk going against Keith’s modest nature, but regardless, let’s salute him together by bringing a photo, memento, or story of happy times.
Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Program at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital or to Ronald McDonald House.
