Mr. John James (Jack) Peebles of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Thursday August 5, 2010 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the former Margaret Hamilton for 62 years. Loving father of Elizabeth of Scarborough, Scott and his wife Cheryl of Lucknow and grandfather of Brittany Ackert and friend Ryan Courtney of Lucknow. Also survived by his sister-in-law Laura and her husband Walter Douglas of Stratford. Predeceased by his parents Johnston A Peebles (1980) and the former Annie Mayburry (1985) and by his brothers William (Bill)(1977) and Kenneth (1981). Jack was the former owner of JA Peebles and Sons Furniture and Funeral Services and a licensed embalmer for over 58 years. Jack served overseas from 1942-46. He was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and manager and assisted with the Cubs and Scouts. Jack was an original member of the Atwood Fire Department where he served for 19 years.
