Jean Ballantyne

April 9, 1931 to October 31, 2017

formerly of RR1 Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday October 31, 2017 at the age of 86. Jean was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where she held many roles including Elder, secretary of Ladies Aid, past president and honourary member of Women’s Missionary Society, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She enjoyed ceramics and farming with her late husband Jack raising pigs, horses, goats and Ayrshire cattle. Jean also bred and showed dachshunds. Beloved wife of the late Jack Ballantyne who predeceased her in 2009. Loving mother of John Ballantyne (Lynda) and Diane Buchanan (Doug). Special grandma of Stacy, Matt, Ashley (Matt), Jeremy (Heather) and great grandma of Natasha, Griffin, Austin and Zoe. Sister of Ethel McMaster and Roy Bradshaw and sister-in-law of Jean Bradshaw. Fondly remembered by Louise Gibson, Tiffany, Dean and his wife Valerie and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Philip and Jean (Crawford) Bradshaw, son-in-law John Gray, great grandson Alexander Gray, brothers John and Richard, sisters Margaret and Gordon Worden, Annie Cleland and husbands Jim Erskine, George Cleland, and brothers-in-law Stanley Campbell and Gordon McMaster. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Friday November 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Atwood Presbyterian Church on Saturday November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ernie Naylor officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
