James (Jim) Cooper of RR3 Brussels, passed away peacefully at Seaforth Community Hospital on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the age of 81. Jim will be remembered by the community as a mentor and friend to many people, both young and old. At Christmas time, Jim enjoyed playing Santa Claus at many church and family functions. Beloved husband of Anne (Hurst) Cooper whom he married in 1969. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews Margaret Anne and Barry Buchanan, Marilyn and Bob Mitchell, Jean Hurst, Robert and Bonnie Leslie, great nieces and nephews Catherine Liden, Andrew Mitchell, Ryan Buchanan, Kara Hinder, six great great nieces and nephew, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ida (Bremner) Cooper. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Friday October 24 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday October 25, 2014 from 1-1:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service to celebrate Jim's life at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Allan Livingstone officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
