November 20, 1925 - October 7, 2025

Passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025

Beloved husband of the late Marie Colquhoun (née Wenzel) for 75 loving years. Loving father of David (Andrea) Colquhoun, Kathryn (Isaias) Teves, and the late Douglas Colquhoun. Cherished grandfather of Scott, Chrystal (Jon), Meghan (Jason), Julia (Ben), Allison (Alex), and Catriona (Noah). Proud great-grandfather of Ayla, Malcolm and Isla.

Predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Colquhoun, his dear son Doug and brothers Murray and Allen. Don will be lovingly remembered by his sister Jean (Ivan) Fischer, sisters  in law Helen Wenzel (the late Jon), Jalna Colquhoun (the late Al), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Don was raised on a farm in Elma Township, the middle of three high-spirited boys with a younger sister. After serving in World War II, he earned his BPHE degree and Teaching Certificate from the University of Toronto. Following two years at Ridgetown High School, Don joined Listowel District Secondary School (LDSS) to teach Mathematics and Physical Education, later serving as Vice Principal until his retirement after 30 years of dedicated teaching.

He married his high school sweetheart, Marie Wenzel, in 1947 — beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

An accomplished athlete, Don played rugby, football, hockey, and baseball throughout high school and university. He enjoyed fastball, golf, and pool for many years, and was an avid bridge player who also loved a good game of cribbage or euchre with his wife and grandchildren.

Don and his brother Allen, with whom he shared a special bond, worked their family farm together. They spent many enjoyable years involved in the raising and training of standardbred horses in the racing world.

Don will be remembered for his sharp mind, acute wit, and unwavering love for his family.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John St Atwood, on Monday October 13 from 7 PM-8:30 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday October 14, 2025 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM.
