Cora Broughton

September 14, 1927 to December 13, 2011

Cora Broughton, of Monkton, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the age of 84. Cora was a member of Monkton United Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and knitting but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late George Broughton who predeceased her in 1988. Loving mother of Sharon Pengelly of Goderich and friend Ken McLaughlin, Marion Colquhoun of Listowel and friend Peter Hare, Betty Lou and Ross Rennick of Monkton, Brenda and Bill Burkholder of Blyth. Special grandma of Judy, Donald, Nancy, Joey, Tammy, Vicki, Kevin, Gary, Sandra, Angela, Heather, Tina, Shane, Cory, Chad, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Sister of Mike and Shirley Hulley of Kingston, sister-in-law of Margaret Little of Waterloo, Lois and Bob Boyd-Mueller, Jean and Ray Buchanan all of Monkton. Fondly remembered by her dear friend Marg Bartja of Monkton and many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Emma (Ward) Hulley, son Bob Broughton, sons-in-law Donald Pengelly and Wayne Colquhoun, brothers Jack and his wife Margaret Hulley, Jim and his wife Myrtle Hulley, sisters Greta and her husband Walter Ward and Tillie and her husband Ross Engel. Cora's family invites relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Thursday December 15, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Monkton United Church on Friday December 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
