Charlie Smith

July 22, 1953 to April 6, 2019

Charles (Charlie) Smith – of Monkton, passed away at his residence on Saturday April 6, 2019 at the age of 65. Charlie was a former member of the Monkton Fire Department and the owner of Charles Smith Electric for over 30 years. He played Junior and Senior hockey, coached all levels of hockey and also played and coached baseball in Monkton. Charlie served as the community contact for the Western Ontario Athletic Association. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Beloved husband of Lori (Ritz) Smith whom he married in 1972. Loving father of Jeff (Kelly), Jeremy (Angela) and James (Vicki). Special poppa of Darcy, Dana, Emsley, Ashlyn, Kayla, Dylan, Trayton, Brock, Avery, Jordyn, Brooklyn and Shaylyn. Dear son of Marjorie Smith and brother of Susanne (Bill) Bos and Brad (Donna) Smith. Brother-in-law of Lynda Cooper, David Ritz, Jim and Susan Ritz, Rhonda Sutherland, Steven and Diane Ritz. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Henry Smith, his brother Michael Smith and brother-in-law Jack Sutherland. Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Elma Logan Recreation Complex, Monkton on Tuesday April 9 from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at the Recreation Complex (Arena Floor) on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Marc Fraser officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
