Bill Broughton

December 25, 1922 to October 3, 2017

of Listowel, formerly of Atwood, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at the age of 94. Bill was a member of Atwood United Church and a former member of the Atwood Lions Club. He was a true farmer but always found time for golfing, playing and coaching hockey, playing baseball and hunting. Bill enjoyed playing cards at the Men’s Club of Atwood. Beloved husband of the late Betty (Rock) Broughton who predeceased him in 2005. Loving father of Debbie Wilson (Frank), Richard (Bev), Robert, Greg (Diana) and Tom (Tammy). Special grandpa of Trevor, Amy (Andrew), Todd, Jamie (Kyla), Laurie (Wayne), Brad (Chelsea), Taylor, Nicole and great grandpa of Abbigayle, Aiden, Leah and Jake. Fondly remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gwen and George Barrie, Joanne and Doug Aitchison, Iris Rock, Karl Campbell and by many nieces and nephews. Bill was the last surviving member of his family being predeceased by his parents Jim and Lou (Coulter) Broughton, brother Jack (Mary), sisters Dorothy Lannin (Fergus), Laurene Corriveau (Paul) and Annie Primrose (Gerald). Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Thursday October 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday October 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Colin Snyder officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
